More Than Code Summer Internship (Invite Only)

Program Overview

The More Than Code Summer Internship is a paid, hands-on tech experience designed to equip high school students with in-demand skills in coding, mobile app development, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurship.

Over the course of the program, participants will learn the fundamentals of Swift programming (Apple’s coding language), user experience design, artificial intelligence (AI), and the software development lifecycle, while working in teams to build their own mobile app prototypes. Students will also engage in design thinking workshops, career exploration sessions, and entrepreneurship training to prepare them for future opportunities in tech and beyond.

The program culminates in a final pitch presentation, where students showcase their apps, ideas, and business models.

Program Details

  • Dates: July 6 – August 13

  • Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • Location: Wayne State University (Detroit, MI)

  • Format: In-person

  • Compensation: Paid internship (stipend-based)

This internship is invite-only.
Students must be selected through JOURNi programming, partner organizations, or direct outreach to be eligible to apply.

Please note: Slots for this summer’s internship are extremely limited.
Due to high demand and a selective process, only a small number of applicants will be accepted.

Step 1: Submit Application

Selected applicants will be invited to participate in a short interview with the JOURNi team.

Step 3: Final Selection

Final decisions are based on application quality, interview performance, and overall fit.
With limited spots available, not all interviewed candidates will be accepted.
